According to
KKTV, there was a single car crash on I-25 near the Cimarron exit in Colorado Springs on Sunday morning. An El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to make contact with the speeding car after the car passed him going south on I-25. Unfortunately, the speeding driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the center barrier and guard rail. The driver of the vehicle was taken immediately to the hospital for injuries, but none of them appear to be life-threatening. According to the police, the Colorado driver was driving at a speed of over 100 miles per hour when the

Speeding is a form of aggressive driving and by all accounts, it is against the law. According to an AAA study, 56% of all fatal car crashes are caused by drivers who were driving aggressively—and speeding was the number one factor in these accidents.

According to KXRM FOX21, a 4 year old boy was hit by a car on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was driving north on Custer Avenue in Colorado Springs when the young boy darted out from between two parked cars. While the 4 year old sustained serious injuries, he is suspected to make a full recovery. The Colorado pedestrian accident remains under investigation by the Major Accident Unit, but initial investigation reveals that speeding, drugs, and alcohol were not involved in this pedestrian accident.
Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents occur every day in the United States. In 2008 alone, 69,000 pedestrians were injured in traffic accidents. Like the accident that occurred in Colorado Springs, the majority of pedestrian accidents occur in urban areas at non-intersections. Injuries sustained in these accidents are often severe and can lead to permanent disabilities and even death. Even vehicles traveling at low speeds can severely injure a pedestrian. (source)
