USA today reports a meningitis outbreak. There are over 13,000 people at risk, the fungus is in steroid shots, often given to patients in the back for pain. Tennessee has the most cases, followed by Michigan, Virginia, Indiana, and Florida. About 17,700 single-dose vials of the steroid were sent to 23 states. The report indicates that a doctors should contact any patient who got a shot from any of the recalled vials.
